STRESS MANAGEMENT

 

There is little doubt that we live in a fast-paced society where there seems to be more to do with less time to do it.  As a result, stress is becoming a bigger problem for more people where life gets thrown out of balance more easily than ever.  I have particular therapy experience with highly driven professionals and executives who find themselves in high-pressure work environments.  They can also be referred to as “Type A” personalities. 

Perfectionism can also fall into this category.  If you feel like you’re on a hamster wheel and you’re not sure where you’re running – or you’ve set a bar for yourself that is unattainable by anyone, you might fall into this category. You might also benefit from counseling to explore what's driving you.  

Stress is the mind and body’s response to demands or pressures. The body launches into a physiological fight for survival which can include such physical symptoms as a racing heart, rise in blood pressure, faster breathing and quicker heart rate. If the stress goes unrelieved, there can be a myriad of complications including depression, anxiety and high blood pressure. Relationships, emotional well-being and physical health all are at risk for being damaged. Highly stressed individuals often turned to substances, such as alcohol, to help relieve their stress.

In my stress management therapy, I’ll help you find ways to decrease your symptoms and manage your stress. We'll address issues around how to balance work with family, friends and you personal time.   Then we’ll assess whether there are any unhelpful mechanisms driving your stress by an exploration of who you are as it relates to your conditioning which usually has it’s roots in the family of origin.  My work with stress pulls a lot of ideas and tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well.

Consider the option of Phone Therapy if time is a limited resource.
