HEALTHY BOUNDARIES

Do you have a hard time standing up for yourself? Do you keep agreeing to do things that you really don't want to do? On the flip side are people turned off by your intrusive behavior? Have you been called, "controlling" by someone you care about? I help individuals and couples create healthy boundaries for themselves.

Boundary problems can look like a lot of things. People can either relate to others in a way that allows the invasion of their boundaries - or in a way that violates the boundaries of others. In relationships, it's not uncommon for two people to get connected who relate in this way. Or you might be an individual who has struggled with this in many types of relationships for most of your life. Regardless, healthy boundaries can be created. In therapy, I help couples and individuals on many issues related to boundary problems.

If we decide to do counseling together, I will likely want to explore your family of origin to see how you might have learned to relate to others. Depending on your situaion, we might look at practicing assertive behavior - or ways to let go of the need to control.
